Many of us are so busy that we often forget to take care of ourselves. Our lives are cluttered with technology, work, and family responsibilities that we have little energy left for ourselves. It is essential to take care of not only our bodies but also our mind and spirit. Self-Care includes eating healthy foods, exercising, minimizing stress, and setting aside "me" time.
Sounds, easy right? Unfortunately, taking care of ourselves is not an easy task and is often the last thing we think about and often feel guilty about even doing it. Taking care of yourself is not being selfish, but allows you to take better care of others. Practicing self-care improves your mental, physical, and emotional health.
So, what can you do? Self-care should be planned, scheduled, simple, flexible, and practiced routinely. You can meditate or exercise, listen to music, read, journal, or go for a walk. Start small, be realistic, and consistent. Whatever you do it should be something you like, that you can commit to, and makes you happy.
