How do you start your mornings?
Do you hit the snooze several times until you finally crawl out of bed?
Do you immediately grab your phone and scroll through Facebook or Instagram?
Do you check your email?
Suppose there is an irritating email or a disturbing story on social media. In that case, you are starting your day off with a dose of negativity.
What if I showed you a way to start your day with purpose and positivity?
Do you know that by asking yourself 5 simple questions before getting out of bed, you can give your day purpose and set yourself up for success?
Yes, just 5 simple questions.
What am I looking forward to today?
This simple question places value on being present and alive. This can be as small as the sun is out, to something more significant, like date night with your spouse. It could be something big or small; this question turns your focus to the present and the thrill of being alive.
What am I looking forward to in the future?
This question turns your focus on your mission, your passion, and your goals in life. By keeping these at the forefront of your mind, you stay on the path and keep pursuing them daily.
Am I taking action today that will help me reach my goals?
So, are the things you are actually doing moving you toward your dreams and goals? Any steps, even small ones, will move you forward if done consistently. Despise your job? Want to start your own business? Although you can't walk away from it today, you can find a mentor, reach out to someone doing what you would like to do, and ask them questions. Take small actions each day to move your forward.
Am I my own cheerleader right now?
Are you your own personal cheerleader or your worst critic? I tend to be highly critical on myself, so I get it, but when I praise myself for doing the right things or achieving something, I am more relaxed and excited to keep pressing forward. It's vital to analyze yourself and make course corrections when things aren't going well. You should always support yourself and believe in your mission and purpose more than anyone else. If you don't believe in yourself, how do you expect anyone else to?
Am I living in the present moment and happy to be alive?
This question is so important. Are you just merely living? Do you appreciate the small things and being alive, breathing, and healthy? Don't let yourself get caught up in the chaos of life. You create your own reality; it is your choice. Yes, it is. You chose your career, you decided where you live. Do your choices directly reflect your current health, bank account, and relationship status?
Your actions were your choice, good or bad.
If you don't like where your choices have led you, then you can choose to change. The world is yours to interpret. Start with practicing mindfulness, being present in the moment, and taking an opportunity to make changes.
You can become anything you choose to be.
You are capable of doing anything you set your mind to.
It begins with believing in yourself.
Followed by taking actions and pressing forward.
Remember, only you can be the author of your story.
So, make it a life of meaning and purpose.
